Braces vs. Clear Aligners: Which is Right for You?
Dr. Priya Sharma 02 Jun 2026
If you're considering orthodontic treatment, you have two main options: traditional metal braces or clear aligners like Invisalign. Both are effective, but they work differently and suit different lifestyles.
Traditional Braces
Metal braces use brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into the correct position. They are fixed to your teeth for the duration of treatment, which typically lasts 18–36 months.
Advantages: Effective for complex cases, less expensive, no need to remember to wear them.
Clear Aligners (Invisalign)
Clear aligners are custom-made plastic trays that gently shift your teeth over time. You swap them out every 1–2 weeks and wear them for 22 hours per day.
Advantages: Nearly invisible, removable for eating and cleaning, more comfortable.
Which Should You Choose?
For mild to moderate alignment issues and patients who want discretion, clear aligners are excellent. For complex cases, braces may be more effective. Our orthodontist will evaluate your teeth and recommend the best option for you.
